The Midas Touch Golden Tans is dedicated to providing a professional atmosphere for clients to enjoy tanning and learn about proper sun care practices. Team members at The Midas Touch strive to be tanning ambassadors and to teach clients about the importance of smart tanning. This begins with the golden rule of tanning: “Don’t ever sunburn.” An estimated 30 million North Americans turn to professional indoor tanning salons every year as a controlled alternative to outdoor tanning. As we become increasingly aware of the benefits associated with regular exposure to sunlight and the importance of managing the risks that can be associated with sunburn and overexposure, more people are turning to indoor tanning facilities to help attain their tans in a controlled environment scientifically designed to minimize the risk of sunburn.1 For separate studies in the last three months showed Vitamin D to have a protective effect against cancer. A four-year clinical trial studying more than 1,000 women showed at least a 60 percent reduction in the incidence of cancer in those who took a Vitamin D supplement. The Canadian Cancer Society has endorsed 1,000 IU per day of Vitamin D as preventative against cancer. This is an eyebrow-raising recommendation because that is five times the established recommended daily allowance (RDA). Vitamin D is synthesized in the skin with the help of sunlight. Fifteen minutes of sunlight on the skin three times a week has been suggested as a good amount for effective Vitamin D production. (Please note that sunscreens SPF 8 or higher effectively block Vitamin D production.)2
